So, it took about one day before scrapers and people trying to hack the website found it 
As a stop-gap measure, I've added rate-limits. They are very relaxed, so shouldn't stop normal users, but at least robots get a bit harder time.
Let me know if you as a regular human ever see a "429 - Too many requests" error message, then I need to tune it a bit more.
